Dear ploughing enthusiasts

Even if a bit later then announced, we published the second issue of WPC News, which is bringing you news from agriculture and rural development. You can find news from our partner organisations that are cooperating with us in the preparations of the 56th World ploughing contest. As already mentioned, every WPO member state can publish their news. England’s team has done it and you are invited to send us materials for the next issue, which is going to be published in April.

As previously anounced, we would like to give our special contribution to the 56th World ploughing contest by offering the possibility for all of you to get to know Slovenia and inform each other inside the WPO community your news and topics of interest. With this objective in mind, we have prepared the first issue of the WPC News, which will be published every 2 months until September 2009.

We hope that you will find interesting content in the WPC News and that you will become a regular reader of it. We will surely do our best for the next issues to have even richer content with interesting reports from the field of agriculture and rural areas in general, not just from Slovenia, but from all the WPO countries. On this place I kindly invite you to send articles, news and other information, that you want to share with your friends from other countries. The contect is therefore open and depending also on your contributions.

Overall results of the 56th World Ploughing Contest Slovenia 2009

The World Ploughing Contest Slovenia 2009 is closed

The Ceremonial Closing of the 56th World Ploughing Contest Slovenia 2009 was held in Tešanovci (Slovenia) on Saturday 5 September. As a guest of honor, the Prime Minister of Slovenia Borut Pahor spoke to ploughmen, their team mates and visitors. He congratulated to winners as well as to organizers of WPC 2009.

Second Day of Ploughing Contest – Grassland, 5 September

On 5 September, around 20,000 visitors were observing the best ploughmen in the world, as they were striving to win the title “world ploughing champion”. This took place on the fields of Tešanovci in Slovenia, as well as many interesting accompanying events such as Exhibition of agricultural machinery, traditional crafts, wine and cuisine, old tractors, etc.
